Our First Bowl
Share
Have you ever stumbled upon a new hobby by accident? Well, that's exactly what happened when I decided to try my hand at turning a bowl on the lathe. Little did I know, it would be the start of a new passion!
It all began with the burl cap of an Australian red coolibah that was just begging to be transformed. It was too small for a traditional bowl, so my friend gave it to me to try my hand at a resin pour to fill it out. I chose a delicate salmon tint for the resin that would compliment the striking nature of the wood without overshadowing it. And just like that, I created my first bowl!

A Newfound Love for Turning
As I watched the bowl take shape on the lathe, I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. The process was both challenging and rewarding, sparking a newfound love for turning. Who knew that a simple piece of wood could bring so much joy?
From the first cut to the final polish, I poured my heart and soul into creating something truly special. And while the bowl may not be perfect, it holds a special place in my heart as the piece that started it all.
So the next time you stumble upon a new opportunity, don't be afraid to dive in headfirst. You never know where it might lead you. Who knows, you might just discover a new passion that brings a smile to your face every time you look at it!
